Hey folks, This is Xela, and today we are talking about what to say when you find a dragon. Dragons, just as all you beauties, are sentient. And it is April first again, so here are your Dragon Tracking tips for this glorious basking day of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They may grumble and they may not speak your language, they may speak an archaic form that your language originated from. But language is not the only obstacle when speaking to a dragon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether you stumbled across them or took your life into your own hands and tracked one on purpose, keep these four rules in mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Never give a dragon your full name. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yes, this is common advice about many supernatural creatures. But it is important to access what type of dragon you are dealing with before you ever give anything but a pseudonym. Why? Dragons never forget. If you thought that saying was about elephants then may I remind you that Elephants are what happened when they-that-be tore a gr@#tsl%$g into pieces. So now we have pythons and elephants. That was a dragon too big and too smart for the good of the entire community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Know what type of dragon you are facing. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you don’t know find out real quick. The temper of a fire dragon is far from the seething rage of an ocean serpent. And neither prepares you for the calm benevolence of a river dragon changing to offended betrayal at the speed of a flash flood. Know the element, know the stereotypes, approach the individual. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. All dragons have something they are proud of. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Do not threaten what they care about. Praise it if you dare, but know that some dragon cultures are required to give to you what you praise and if you are not careful, they will be at their limit and tell you what a pretty head you have. Humans can not live long without their heads so stay vigilant and stay humble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Most important of all, do not under any but the most dire circumstance ask a dragon to fly you somewhere. <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you are not a divine souled demigod or heavenly empower then you will be lucky if they just laugh you off. Unless you are incredibly persuasive and the dragon has a stake in what you are trying to accomplish you may be chased off. If it is taken poorly this is the easiest way to get a dragon to eat you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Post note, be careful with phrasing if it is an emergency. Asking a dragon to fly you somewhere is not the same as asking a dragon for a ride. If you phrase it like that the dragon might think you mean something more explicit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am not saying you won’t have a good time rolling around in the gold but the possessiveness afterward is not worth the fling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
